To announce her album she released her new single and music video, “Scared of You” and announced it via her Instagram. Released in 2018, ‘Taki Taki’ allowed Selena Gomez to enter the latin and reggaeton genre and expanded her audience globally. Although the true meaning of ‘Taki Taki’ is unknown it became a hit back in 2018 due to its inclusion of spanish and english lyrics and catch phrases. Having a bilingual hit was something the latin public had not experienced since ‘Despacito’.
9. Wolves (with Marshmello) – 2017
This single produced by Marshmello was released in 2017 after Selena announced she had gone through a procedure for a kidney transplant as well as dealing with the autoimmune disease Lupus. Wolves was released to give inspiration to her audience and remind them that they’re not alone through struggles and hardships. From the beat to the lyrics, Wolves is meant to uplift and empower you to never give up.

After stepping away from her career with Disney in her role as Alex Russo in Wizards of Waverly Place, Selena released the single, ‘Hands to Myself’ to give off a more mature and flirtatious look to her brand. An empowering and inspirational hit was created after it was speculated to have been a goodbye to her ex boyfriend Justin Bieber after ending their on and off relationship. Its message was for people to know that sometimes you have to let go of someone to be happy and love yourself first.

Selena made clear that this single had no reference to a past relationship but rather her relationship to her parents. She referenced how your relationship with your parents should be healthy because it eventually goes into all your other ones as well.

A hit till this day due to its sultry lyrics and feature with A$AP ROCKY, a girl is depicted putting effort and trying to look her best for someone. The cover could have multiple meanings to different people but Selena certainly portrayed that you try your best to look good for someone and at the end there is nothing left to give.
