Serena Williams plays an incredible match as expected to beat Maria Sharapova 6-1, 6-1 and reach the 2nd round at the U.S. Open 18 consecutive sets and 19 consecutive wins for Serena.

Serena is 20-3 all time against Maria Sharapova, not much of a rivalry as many claim. This is Serena’s best match of the year, and possibly in two years, and it’s no shock at all. She never lets Sharapova get anything less than her best.

The 37-year-old Williams is seeking her 24th Grand Slam singles trophy, and she’ll face Caty McNally in the second round.
