Simone Biles Pulls Out of Women’s Team Gymnastics Final at Tokyo Olympics

The defending American Olympic champion withdrew from the remainder of the Artistic Gymnastics Women’s Team Final on Tuesday in Tokyo after only competing in the vault.

ESPN first reported Biles was out of Tuesday’s team finals after apparently suffering an injury during the vault.

Biles huddled with a trainer after landing her vault and then exited the competition floor. She returned several minutes later with her right leg wrapped.

Team USA gymnastics revealed Biles pulled out over a medical issue.

Official statement: “Simone Biles has withdrawn from the team final competition due to a medical issue. She will be assessed daily to determine medical clearance for future competitions.”
