The talented Sydney Park has been in the spotlight nearly her whole life, dazzling audiences with her talent, charm, and fearless authenticity. From being the youngest comedian to perform at the legendary Hollywood Improv to standout roles in the hit series The Walking Dead and Instant Mom, Sydney has solidified her career as a compelling, multi-talented artist.

Now, with the release of her debut EP Back Against the Wall, she’s adding singer-songwriter to her impressive resume, sharing a deeply personal side of her artistry. Sydney’s journey is about resilience, evolution, and a relentless drive to tell poignant stories through humor, drama, or music.

“I think having the creative outlet to express myself at a young age shaped me into the woman I am today,” Sydney shared. Her trailblazing start as the youngest comedian to perform at the Hollywood Improv cemented her place as a precocious talent, but it also came with challenges. “Sometimes I feel a little odd because no one in my life shares the same experiences that I do, but I hope that through my artistry I’m able to help people feel less alone in their feelings of weirdness or ‘too-much-ness.’”

Her early roles in That’s So Raven and CSI: NY demonstrated her versatility, but it was her time as Gabby in Instant Mom that began her seamless transition from child actor to versatile performer. She reflected, “For us child actors, it can be really difficult to transition to adult material.” That leap came with her role as Cyndie on The Walking Dead, a character she described as particularly meaningful: “That was my first role right after finishing my Nickelodeon show… It allowed me to explore new layers as an actor.”

Sydney’s portfolio continued to expand with roles in Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists, Santa Clarita Diet, and Netflix projects like Moxie and There’s Someone Inside Your House. For each character, she relies on immersive preparation methods. “I love to create playlists for my characters… Sometimes I’ll journal as that character and just get lost in imagining my own backstories for them.”

Beyond acting, Sydney’s creative endeavors have taken a fresh turn with music. Her debut EP Back Against the Wall showcases her passion for singing and songwriting, which she describes as her “first love.” Unlike acting, she finds music a space for unfiltered self-expression. “I just show up as myself in the studio and leave feeling more like myself. In a lot of ways, I think songwriting can be more cathartic for me than acting because I’m really just sharing what makes me me.”

The six-track project, featuring songs like Chosen Family and Love is King, marks a deeply personal milestone. “I think I was just so ready to write my own words and collaborate with talented, equally hungry-to-create kind of people,” Sydney explained. “Music has given me the freedom to write, sing, vent, drink, smoke, show up in pajamas, no makeup — whatever it is that my heart desires, really.”

As she reflects on her multifaceted career, Sydney envisions an expansive future. “I really want to get back to my comedic roots, whether it be through sketch comedy, a TV show, or some cool dramedy films,” she said. “I just love being a woman and especially a multi-cultural woman where I’m able to hopefully continue to tell a wide range of stories that make others feel seen, recognized, and heard.”

But for Sydney, success isn’t solely defined by professional achievements. “Personally, I’m ready to get married and start a family. The biggest legacy I want to leave behind is how much I loved and was loved by my tribe.”
