The Cast of “The Best Man: The Final Chapters” Talks Reuniting

It’s been 20+ years since we got introduced to what would become the cult franchise The Best Man, so when news broke that the film would be turning into a television series, fans everywhere rejoiced!

The Best Man: The Final Chapters, an 8-episode limited series on Peacock, will take a deeper dive into the individual and collective lives of the original cast (minus Monica Calhoun, who passed away in the previous film). And unlike the film version, this time, fans and viewers will be allowed to explore the inner workings of this tight-knit group of friends as they navigate midlife crises, relationships, careers, and more.

We caught up with the cast to discuss why the franchise has sustained such a devoted fan base after all these years and what viewers can expect. Nia Long, who plays (Jordan) says, “I think the cast gives audiences a sense of comfort and knowing this group for so long marks certain moments in your own life that provide a sense of security and trust.”

“Familiarity and family,” she adds, are the key ingredients that connect the audience to the beloved characters and their stories.

Viewers will see (Lance) played by Morris Chesnut, explores the grief and dating after the death of a spouse and what that looks like for him. He says, “no one really knows how they will respond to grief” but says, “it will be interesting to see how viewers react.”

The Best Man: The Final Chapters series was created, written, and executive produced by Malcolm D. Lee of Blackmaled Productions & Dayna Lynne North (Insecure) of Loud Sis Productions. And rounding out the cast is an incredible roster that includes Nicole Ari Parker, Ron Canada, Brandon Victor Dixon, Michael Genet, Yvonna Pearson, Aaron Serotsky, Terrence Terrell, Tobias Truvillion, and Eric Scott Ways.

Just in time for the holidays, The Best Man: The Final Chapters premieres Thursday, December 22, on Peacock.
