The official trailer for the action thriller film “Pretty Lethal,” featuring Maddie Ziegler, Lana Condor, Iris Apatow, and Uma Thurman, has been released ahead of its world premiere at SXSW and global Prime Video release on March 25th, 2026.
“Pretty Lethal” is a film directed by Vicky Jewson and written by Kate Freund, in which a group of top ballerinas attends a major dance competition, but their bus breaks down in a secluded forest with little peace and quiet, leading them to a creepy roadside inn run by Devora Kasimer, a reclusive former ballet prodigy played by Uma Thurman. As the situation worsens and the threat increases, the competitive ballerinas are forced to put aside their differences and rely on their training to stay alive, using their skills in surprising ways to save their lives.
“Pretty Lethal” explores the crossover from ballet to action films, with the director stating:
“In Pretty Lethal, I wanted to bring the highly specific skillset of a ballerina to the action space,” Jewson said in a statement. “We created a world built on the broken dreams of a dancer, played by the iconic Uma Thurman. This world and our incredible young cast gave me the freedom to swing between horror, comedy, and action to create a breathless rollercoaster ride. The troupe embraces teamwork, sisterhood, and ballet-fu in order to stay alive. Dance like your life depends on it.”
The cast includes Ziegler, Condor, Apatow, Avantika, and Millicent Simmonds as the dancers, along with Michael Culkin and Lydia Leonard.
Thurman portrays the mysterious innkeeper whose past casts a shadow on what is to come.
The film’s producers include Kelly McCormick, Mike Karz, William Bindley, and Piers Tempest.
The film’s score is by Paul Leonard-Morgan, and the choreography is by Will Tuckett.
Costume design is by Diana Marton and Ildikó Andó, and the film’s hair and makeup design is by Anna Gerő.
The film’s editor is Richard Smither, and its casting director is Jenny Jue.
The stunt design and coordination for the film is by Shahaub Roudbari, and Adam Horton is the film’s supervising stunt coordinator.
The film’s production design is by Zsuzsi Kismarty-Lechner, and Charlotte Pearson is the film’s co-production designer.
The cinematography for the film is by Bridger Nielsen.
With elements of horror, action, and black comedy, the film explores competition, sisterhood, and survival, and portrays ballet as a means of overcoming difficult circumstances.
Following its world premiere at the South by Southwest film festival, the film will start streaming worldwide on Prime Video on March 25th.
