Three Things To Know About Ava DuVernay New Show Cherish The Day

OWN released a video trailer yesterday for its new anthology series Cherish the Day, which will debut February, 2020.

The Ava DuVernay-produced series chronicles the relationship of one couple, with each episode spanning a single day. The narrative will unfold to reveal significant moments in a relationship that compel us to hold true to the ones we love, from the extraordinary to the everyday, according to the network.

This show achieved full gender parity with a production crew of over 50% women, including 18 female department heads.

Women were hired across directing, writing, production design, camera, set design, casting, key craft service, costume, hair, makeup, editing, medical, set decoration, sound, grip, electric, transportation, accounting, locations and stunts, along with serving as post-production supervisor, property master and script supervisor.

Xosha Roquemore (The Mindy Project) stars as Gently James and Alano Miller (Underground) stars as Evan Fisher. The couple meet and fall in love in Los Angeles, with the full season spanning five years in eight episodes.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT CHERISH THE DAY:

  1. Every season will have a new black couple that will shed light on the different types of black love.
  2. Gently name comes from her assertiveness and also how she carries herself through these major obstacles in life.
  3. Cicely Tyson came on board to the project before even reading Ava script and she also changed up a couple of lines for her character. She also picked out majority of the outfits for her character.
