When’s Lionel Messi First Game With Inter Miami?

Lionel Messi, widely regarded as the greatest player in soccer history, has left Paris Saint-Germain and will join David Beckham’s Inter Miami in South Florida.

Yesterday, Messi turned down a three-year contract worth up to €1.6 billion from Al-Hilal.

He also turned down Barcelona because he “heard that they had to sell players or lower player salaries, and the truth is that he didn’t want to go through that, or take charge of obtaining something that had to do with all of that,” according to SPORT.

Lionel Messi leaves Europe as the all-time leading scorer and assister in all competitions and the top five leagues.

What does Messi deal include?

Lionel Messi will be paid a percentage of MLS Season Pass subscriptions from Apple TV. ADIDAS will pay him a percentage of Inter Miami shirt sales, and at the end of his career, he may be able to purchase an MLS franchise.

It should be noted that all MLS franchises contributed financially to bring the Argentine to the United States.

Messi Impact on Inter Miami

Inter Miami had just over a million Instagram followers prior to the massive Messi announcement; now, the football club has over 5 million followers.

When will Messi make his debut for Inter Miami?

Messi’s decision to join Inter Miami is final, but certain formalities must be completed. As a result, Messi’s first appearances for Inter Miami may have to wait.

Before he can be registered with another club, Messi must finish the remaining weeks of his contract with PSG, which expires on June 30.

He will take a three-week vacation with his family before starting work with his new teammates.

The MLS schedule will pause after the regular season games on the weekend of July 15-16 to accommodate the 2023 Leagues Cup, a tournament between MLS clubs and their Liga MX counterparts. Inter Miami will compete in Group South 3 alongside Cruz Azul and Atlanta United.

According to ESPN, Messi’s first game with the team could be on July 21st in the first Leagues Cup group game against Cruz Azul at the DRV PNK Stadium, Miami. It will be the team’s first game against a Mexican opponent.

Messi is expected to make his MLS debut on August 21st against Charlotte FC.
