The wackiest night in Hollywood is upon us! That’s right ladies and gentlemen, the 2018 Met Gala will be held this Sunday, May 7th. Since the event’s beginning, entertainers have donned some of the most outrageous gowns and outfits while attending the fundraiser. The gala, hosted by The Costume Institute Gala at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art is one to write home about. The gala extends invitations to the brightest stars including Beyonce, Rihanna, and more. It’s literally the biggest night in couture fashion.
This year’s theme is Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination. We can only imagine that with a theme so steamy, that the night will be on fire! For starters, there’s no telling how some of our favorites are going to pull off looks that combine sexiness and the church but we are excited to see what outfits hit the Met Gala’s red carpet! The suspense is killing us.
In the event’s audacious past, celebs have done everything from sheer, see-through gowns to costumes literally dripping with jewels (Kylie Jenner wears Versace well, eh?!)
Met Gala veteran Rihanna is known for her edgy and often out-of-this-world gowns that she wears to the event. We are predicting that her outfit this weekend will be nothing short of mind-blowing.
The Queen of Pop, Beyonce also comes to slay at the Met Gala. Who could forget her latex Givenchy gown or her bejeweled, sheer number (also by Givenchy) paired with a signature high ponytail? If Beyonce plans on giving us a taste of all she gave us in 2015, we’ll surely be drunk in love! Queen Bey and her hubby Jay-Z played up the Catholic theme in Jay-Z’s “family feud” video earlier this year and the visuals were phenomenal. Maybe they’ll mix a little sexy and saintly this weekend?
Speaking of saints, Saint West’s mommy Kim Kardashian has been known to stunt at the gala. She’s given us feathery vibes (kinda cute,) full-on metal body armor (wasn’t feeling it,) and Mrs. Doubtfire (I had to do it y’all!)
Celebs have also staged hilarious antics while at the Gala, like Diddy laying down on the red carpet to pose alongside longterm girlfriend Cassie to Jaden Smith bringing his locs to the 2017 event (for reasons still unknown). Who knows what may happen this year, a lot of craziness has been circulating especially with Met Gala pro Kanye West, who in the past has worn wacky fits including green contacts.
Other celebs have graced the gala with unforgettable antics and outfits like Sarah Jessica Parker, Lady Gaga, and George Clooney and his wife Amal went public about their relationship at the fundraiser one year.
