Ramirez said he ran into Pope while working later in the night a block from Pope’s home.
“I see him and say hello,” Ramirez said. “He’s a good guy, he sits outside and says hi.”
Following the shooting, hours later, Ramirez heard from Pope’s mother that her son was dead.
“She says ‘Gracie, I need you. Something happened, and I say, what happened? And she says My baby boy. I really don’t know what I’m going to do.”
