Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez brushed aside a question about Michigan Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed’s association with Twitch streamer Hasan Piker, saying in a video clip that Michigan voters are focused on the cost of living rather than on an online personality.
CNN’s Manu Raju asked whether El-Sayed should go further in distancing himself from the streamer.
“Does El-Sayed need to do more to disavow Hasan Piker?” Raju asked.
“I do not think that a Twitch streamer is what the people of Michigan are concerning themselves with, so I think that what they want to hear all of us talk about is how we’re gonna make their lives more affordable,” Ocasio-Cortez said.
