Children’s educator Ms. Rachel said she would match rapper Macklemore’s $1 million donation to help Palestine, and she asked celebrities to follow suit.
“I will match Macklemore’s donation, and I invite every wealthy white celebrity to match it and speak out against the genocide in Gaza,” she said.
Ms. Rachel explained how many children in the territory are suffering from the war.
“Over 20,000 precious Palestinian children have been killed, and children continue to be killed every day,” she stated.
The donation, according to Ms. Rachel, is the duty of rich people who can afford it and reach lots of people.
“We have a moral obligation to use our privilege and platforms to protect children and human rights,” she added.
Ms. Rachel made her pledge on Instagram, where she has 5.8 million followers, and said she is an ambassador for the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund and that all the money will be donated through it.
The move comes after Macklemore announced he will donate all net earnings from Ed Sheeran’s Loop Tour, worth $1 million, to six groups that help Palestinians. These organizations include Palestine Children’s Relief Fund, HEAL Palestine, Gaza Soup Kitchen, Medical Aid for Palestinians, UNRWA USA, and American Near East Refugee Aid.
The rapper was pulled from the rest of the tour for supporting Palestinians and saying he wants Palestine to be free at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on September 4th and September 5th during his Loop Tour performances. He performed his protest song “Hind’s Hall” there.
Macklemore was pulled from the tour after Gillette Stadium owner Robert Kraft refused to allow him to perform there. Ed Sheeran said it wasn’t his decision to pull Macklemore off the tour, but that the tour promoter did.
