Megan Thee Stallion closed out the rebooted Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show Sunday night, stepping down the runway in silver wings and making her teenage dream come true 15 years later.
The Houston rapper, 31, sang “Her” and “Body” at Sony Pictures Studios in a shimmering lace bra, black bottoms, and sparkling stockings. With platinum blond hair inspired by her Tina Snow alter ego, she strutted down the runway and said, “Are there any Hotties in here tonight?”
Later, she shared a 2011 tweet along with a clip of her performance to create a full-circle moment for her fans. She was 16 when she tweeted it on June 24, 2011: “I swear ima b a victoria secret model when I grow up:)”
“This is so unreal,” Megan told Ebony on the pink carpet before the show. She pointed out that fans have been following her tweet about her dream since she was around 14 years old.
Megan, whose real name is Megan Pete, revealed the booking in late September, saying on X that her “dream has finally come true” and encouraging fans to tune in and watch her make her wings.
Her closing performance included “Body,” the 2020 single off of her album “Good News,” which peaked at No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100. This performance was followed by another highlight of the night: the runway debut of the brand’s $50 million Fantasy Bra worn by Kylie Jenner.
Jenner, 29, wore the piece, which was designed with jeweler Jacob & Co. and studded with 4,410 natural diamonds, with a 75-carat yellow diamond as the centerpiece. CNN reported that the Fantasy Bra took more than 1,000 hours to design, with 15 artisans working on it. This was the first Fantasy Bra to appear on the runway since 2018.
Only women performed at the show. Tate McRae made the first live appearance of her new single “Housewife,” released on Oct. 15, and Katseye and country singer Megan Moroney were seen on the runway for the first time.
The runway blended nostalgia and star power, with veterans including Gigi Hadid, Bella Hadid, Adriana Lima, Candice Swanepoel, Behati Prinsloo, Ashley Graham, and Paloma Elsesser walking alongside newcomers Natalia Bryant, Kobe Bryant’s daughter, and soccer player Trinity Rodman.
The event marked the show’s return to Los Angeles for the first time since 2007 and was broadcast live on the brand’s YouTube channel.
Victoria’s Secret introduced its fashion show in 1995, and it became a televised event featuring performers such as Taylor Swift and Rihanna. In recent years, ratings fell as critics said the show didn’t fit the #MeToo era, and the company announced in November 2019 that it would discontinue it. It returned in 2024.
This was the end of a busy year for Megan, who made her Broadway debut this year in Moulin Rouge! The Musical.
