Watch Greta Gerwig’s Barbie Teaser Trailer Starring Margot Robbie

After all the paparazzi photos of the Barbie set and after all the celebrity cameos that we saw in this film already, we finally got a glimpse of Greta Gerwig’s vision for Barbie. I’m telling you that I didn’t expect this film to pay homage to the opening scene from one of Stanley Kubrick’s films.

In the opening of 2001: A Space Odyssey, an early man encountered a mysterious monolith that made him more aggressive and greedy. From the Barbie teaser trailer, it seems like Barbie (Margot Robbie) will take on the same role as the monolith with the young girls and their baby dolls. In the teaser, the young girls start destroying their baby dolls when Barbie appears before them. It’s a signal to the new age of dolls.

Ryan Gosling stars alongside Margot Robbie as Ken. The film will reportedly feature many versions of Ken and Barbie, but it’s unclear who will be portraying the other versions. America Ferrera, Simu Liu, Kate McKinnon, Emma Mackey, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Issa Rae, Michael Cera, Will Ferrell as the CEO of Mattel, Emerald Fennell, Alexandra Shipp, and many, many more will appear in the film.

On another note, the official account for Greta Gerwig’s ‘Barbie’ has followed Dua Lipa on Instagram, seemingly confirming her involvement in the film, which got previously reported in May.

Gerwig appeared on Dua Lipa’s podcast At Your Service last month to speak on the process of Barbie.

“It was terrifying. I think there’s something about starting from that place where it’s like, ‘Well, anything is possible.”

It’s a Barbie world, and we’re all just living in it. Check out the first look at the teaser trailer for Greta Gerwig’s BARBIE starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, down below.

The film releases on July 21st in theaters.

Barbie’s soundtrack starts off with a bang from a Grammy-winning artist.

First single from the upcoming Barbie movie soundtrack, “Dance the Night,” by Dua Lipa, has been released.

In addition to opening the musical portion of the live-action Barbie movie, “Don’t Stop Now” singer Dua Lipa also plays a mermaid Barbie, as seen in the zany character posters that were unveiled last month.

The film follows Margot Robbie’s doll heroine as she experiences an existential crisis in the candy-colored Barbie Land and sets out on a journey to the real world while also featuring various versions of Barbie and Ken.

While Issa Rae, Kate McKinnon, Simu Liu, Ncuti Gatwa, Nicola Coughlan, Hari Nef, and Kingsley Ben-Adir play different versions of the toys, Ryan Gosling stars as the main character Ken.
