Disney dropped a brand new teaser on Monday for “Descendants: Wicked Wonderland,” announcing a July 16th premiere date. Along with a new poster, we also got a brand new casting addition and a tease of the newest characters to hit the Wicked Wonderland. The biggest casting addition is actress and comedian Awkwafina to the Descendants universe as Chessy the Cat.

The new Disney Channel Original Movie, “Descendants: Wicked Wonderland,” will premiere July 16th on Disney Channel and July 17 on Disney+.

After the events of the last film, Red and Chloe discover that altering the past has created a new villain, Maddox Hatter, who has now captured the Queen of Hearts. They must form an unlikely group of heroes with Red’s new sister, Pink; Luisa Madrigal’s son, Luis; Captain Hook’s daughter, Hazel; and Maddox’s son, Max, to help her and protect Wonderland from him. The new teaser follows Red and Chloe through this new version of Wonderland, as loyalties shift and they fight for what is right against unexpected enemies. The teaser also reveals who will be on whose side throughout the movie.

Returning cast from “Descendants: The Rise of Red” includes Kylie Cantrall, Malia Baker, Leonardo Nam, Melanie Paxson, and Paolo Montalban, along with Rita Ora and Brandy. Joining the cast this year include Liamani Segura as Pink, Brendon Tremblay as Max Hatter, Alexandro Byrd as Luis Madrigal, Kiara Romero as Hazel Hook, Joel Oulette as Robbie Hood, Zavien Garrett as Felix Facilier, Ryan McEwen as Squirmy Smee, and Dayton Paradis as Squeaky Smee.

The new film is directed by Kimmy Gatewood (“Muppets Mayhem”) and is written by co-executive producer Tamara Chestna (“Sneakerella”), along with Dan Frey and Ru Sommer (“Descendants: The Rise of Red”). Suzanne Todd and Gary Marsh are executive producers once again, and Gatewood is co-executive producer. Emmy-winning choreographer Emilio Dosal, whose other credits include “Wicked” and “Sneakerella,” choreographed the film’s music and dance numbers.

The “Descendants: Wicked Wonderland” Original Soundtrack will be released July 17th on Walt Disney Records, and a line of merchandise from the movie is also on the way, including dolls by Mattel, costumes, apparel, and books.

Since it first arrived in 2015, the “Descendants” franchise has been the ultimate youth programming, and all three initial films rank as the #1 most-watched cable movie of their year, with nearly 1 billion hours of U.S. viewing for the franchise. In 2024, “Descendants: The Rise of Red” launched as the #1 most-watched original movie for kids and girls 6-11 on Disney+ to over 9 billion total lifetime views, and is one of the most popular Halloween costumes. The live “Descendants/ZOMBIES Worlds Collide Tour” played to over 40 sold-out arena audiences throughout North America in summer 2025.

All of the previous Descendants films and “The Descendants/ZOMBIES Worlds Collide: Concert Special” are now available streaming on Disney+.

I just came across this amazing way to earn $6,000-$8,000 a week online! No selling, no struggle—just a simple system that anyone can follow. Kelly Richards did it, and so can you! Don’t miss out on this life-changing opportunity.
