Aaron Salter: Retired Buffalo Police Officer Lost His Life Trying To Protect The Supermarket From White Supremacist Payton Gendron

Aaron Salter is a retired Buffalo Police Officer who was working security at Tops when Payton Gendron opened fire on over a dozen individuals on Saturday, May 14th, 2022. Salter returned fire on the shooter when he entered the building but did not pierce his body armor. The shooter returned fire, killing Salter. BPD Commissioner Joseph Gramaglia called Salter, “a hero in our eyes.”
