TwitchCon 2022 is in turmoil after a series of horrific injuries suffered by attendees of the event.
A simple foam pit injured at least two attendees, with the Internet expressing outrage at what appeared to be a clear safety lapse. Streamer Adriana Chechik jumped into the foam pit on Sunday and is said to have broken her back in two places.
Probably the most painful thing I’ve seen in awhile. Twitch streamer Adriana Chechik has confirmed broken her back in two separate places following this jump at TwitchCon pic.twitter.com/QdojGn5UtG

Chechik confirmed on her Twitter that the injury suffered was as horrific as it looked. Since then, she has been fitted with a tape measure to support her spine. Chechik is surprisingly not the only one who succumbed to a hand injury in the foam pit when fellow streamer LochVaness dislocated his knee.
The female streamer confirmed that she went to the hospital later to check for a broken bone, but the damage was repaired.
Well, I broke my back in two places and am getting surgery to put a meter rod in for support today. Send your support. When it rains it pours and I am definitely feeling the rain right now.

Another attendee that got injured at the event tweeted about how TwitchCon “opened her eyes to so many things.” Given the context, it’s probably not for the right reasons.
The liability of Amazon-owned TwitchCon is currently being discussed, as many voices are concerned about the event’s security issues. Each of the foam jumpers signed a waiver to participate, but under California state law, waivers can be waived in the event of serious negligence.
The foam pit has a ‘no diving’ rule that all participants follow, but the big problem seems to be under the foam. There was nothing but hard concrete under the jump, causing each of them to be injured. The dance moves were streamed live as part of the Lenovo Legion congress event, but the video-on-demand video of the jumps was taken down shortly afterward.
TwitchCon has yet to issue a statement about the injuries suffered at the event but continues to share promotional content on its social media channels.
