A 22-year-old woman from Florida has been revealed as the second victim of the crash that took the life of car influencer James Wehr, who held a weekly car show in Southern California.
She has been identified as Alexis “Lexi” Kramer, 22, from Lakeland, Florida. The 27-year-old influencer died when she and her partner’s 2019 McLaren crashed, broke apart, and burst into fire in the early morning on Sunday in Irvine, USA Today reports.
Kramer “loved the car community,” her relatives say, adding “it’s such a tragedy that that’s what ended her.”
Kramer’s family has given dental records to the medical examiner’s office, says Dexerto. Neither the names of the victims have been officially disclosed by the Orange County coroner’s office.
Around 12:20 a.m. on Sunday, officers and Orange County Fire Authority crews responded to a single-car crash at Culver Drive and Deerfield Avenue in Irvine, police said. Initial investigation showed that the McLaren stopped at a red light and headed north on Culver Drive. As soon as the light went green, the car accelerated abruptly and lost control. It veered to the right, hit the curb, and crashed into the tree. The impact separated the car in half and triggered the fire.
Firefighters put the fire out and discovered two dead people in the vehicle. Officer Ziggy Azarcon said speed may have been a factor in the crash. Police have not yet identified the driver.
Kramer, a bartender described on her Instagram as a 2026 Hooters Calendar model, flew from Florida to meet Wehr several days ago for the first time after meeting via Instagram about a month ago. The two of them attended Wehr’s car show on Saturday, hours before the crash, says The Sun.
James Wehr cofounded the car show South OC Cars and Coffee together with his father Simon. Starting in a parking lot in San Clemente, it became a weekly car show held on Saturdays at the Outlets at San Clemente, known as the world’s largest weekly car show. James regularly came there to film the cars and organize the event.
South OC Cars and Coffee informed its followers about James’s death on Instagram hours after the crash, saying that they had lost a son and a brother due to a traffic collision and asking for privacy.
Gracie Kramer, Lexi Kramer’s sister, also made her tribute on Instagram, calling her sister her best friend and other half.
The Irvine Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team is asking anyone who saw the McLaren before the crash to contact Detective David Juarez at 949.724.7047.
