Three women, one of whom was a 22-year-old American, were arrested following a scuffle that was linked to the alleged theft of a mobile phone at a well-known monument in Mexico City, according to the authorities.
The 22-year-old American woman’s name was Yuliana. The other two women arrested were Arlete and Karla. Further information on the matter was not immediately provided by the authorities.
The scuffle reportedly occurred near the Ángel de la Independencia monument amid large crowds due to the festivities. According to the officials, the three women assaulted a woman, accusing them of stealing their mobile phone.
The suspects were reported to have been arrested near the intersection of Londres and Amberes streets in Zona Rosa.
The matter is still under investigation, and there have been no court proceedings.
