Apple TV+ has officially released the trailer for the second season of its psychological thriller Surface, starring and executive produced by Gugu Mbatha-Raw. The series, created by Veronica West, captivated audiences with its mind-bending first season, and now returns with a fresh mystery set against the glamorous yet treacherous world of London’s elite.
A New Setting, A New Mystery
The upcoming eight-episode season premieres on Friday, February 21, 2025, with new episodes dropping weekly every Friday through April 11, 2025. This time, the story takes protagonist Sophie (Mbatha-Raw) from San Francisco to London, as she continues to piece together the fragmented memories of her past.

However, the deeper she digs, the more tangled her reality becomes. When an investigative journalist unexpectedly reaches out, Sophie is shocked to learn that they were once working together to expose a dangerous and far-reaching scandal—one that involves the very people she is now closest to.

The series was renewed for a second season in December 2022, signaling confidence in its potential for deeper storytelling.

Her portrayal of Sophie—a woman caught between past and present, truth and illusion—adds another compelling character to her already impressive filmography.
In a statement, Mbatha-Raw expressed her excitement about revisiting Sophie’s journey in a new setting:
