Stefanie Pieper, an Austrian makeup and beauty social media influencer, died at the hands of her former boyfriend. He allegedly placed her in a suitcase and buried her in a wood, according to Austrian media on Sunday. Pieper was 31 years old.
The Styrian State Police reported that Pieper went missing after returning home from a party on the night of November 23. According to reports, Pieper had messaged a friend that she had safely returned home, and later, that someone may be in her stairwell.
Neighbors told news outlets that Pieper and her ex-boyfriend were heard arguing, and that the ex-boyfriend had been spotted in the building. Police reported that Pieper’s relatives and co-workers were unable to contact Pieper, and a missing persons report had been made.
Pieper’s ex-boyfriend had been arrested in Slovenia after he was seen near his burning car. Styria’s State Police reported that the man may have made several trips to Slovenia in the vehicle. Then, on November 24, police in Slovenia reported that a car had been burned in the parking area of a casino near the border of Austria and Slovenia. That car belonged to the individual.
According to Kronen Zeitung, the suspect was extradited to Austria and confessed during the interrogation that he strangled Pieper, packed her body in a suitcase, and buried it in a Slovenian forest. Later, he led the police to the grave.
Additionally, the Styrian State Police reported that two male relatives of the suspect were arrested in relation to the incident.
