Ava DuVernay’s ARRAY Creative Campus in Historic Filipinotown will be opening its doors to the community in tribute to the extraordinary Sidney Poitier with a FREE double-feature screening event on Saturday, May 21.
The SPRING SALUTE TO SIDNEY POITIER will feature classic films NO WAY OUT (1950) and PARIS BLUES (1961) with tickets available at ARRAYPlay.com. Coinciding with this celebration of Black cinema, our ARRAY 101 education initiative will be launching a FREE learning companion to our three-part docuseries THEY’VE GOTTA HAVE US, currently streaming on Netflix. The series is a timely look at the impact of art, activism, and race on Black Cinema (and features interviews about the impact of Poitier’s work).
The companion is designed to be accessible from middle school through collegiate level classes, as well as casual film lovers looking to learn more about Black Cinema. It can be accessed for FREE starting May 19 at ARRAY101.org.
