The ongoing feud between rappers Doechii and Azealia Banks has been marked by a series of public exchanges since 2022, involving canceled collaborations, social media disputes, and personal attacks.
April 2022: Initial Collaboration and Fallout
In April 2022, Doechii released her single “Crazy” and invited Azealia Banks to feature on the remix. Banks initially agreed, confirming the collaboration on her Instagram story, but canceled it an hour later without providing a clear reason. Shortly thereafter, Banks began criticizing Doechii, her label Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE), and fellow artist SZA on social media. She remarked, “TDE is going out fcking sad,” and questioned, “What the fck is even happening with TDE?” Regarding Doechii, Banks stated, “You have this fcking Doechii chick, who I have no fcking clue who she is.”
Doechii responded by engaging with fans on Twitter, expressing that she had approached the collaboration with respect and enthusiasm. She noted, “I was respectful, excited, and grateful to make art with her.”
May 2023: Doechii’s Perspective
In May 2023, Doechii addressed the situation, stating that she did not take the incident “too seriously” and remained open to a future collaboration with Banks.
April 2024: Renewed Tensions
In April 2024, tensions resurfaced when Banks commented on Doechii’s social media post inquiring about fan base names, suggesting they be called “wannabes.” Doechii retorted, “The first time you came for me I let it slide outta respect for my elders. It’s not my fault you sellin b*ssy soap and I’m sellin platinum records. Leave me alone PLEASE.”
Banks responded with further derogatory remarks, including body-shaming comments. She later claimed that she declined the collaboration due to a viral video involving Doechii and her boyfriend, and alleged that Doechii was an unattractive imitation of herself discovered by TDE and Kendrick Lamar.
June 2024: Performance Gesture
In June 2024, during a live performance, Doechii emulated Azealia Banks’ machete dance, a move that Banks publicly disapproved of.
January 2025: Continued Hostilities
As of January 2025, Banks has continued to disparage Doechii, making unfounded accusations and derogatory comments. She accused Doechii of substance abuse and labeled her a “DEI hire,” implying that her success is solely due to diversity initiatives.
Despite the ongoing hostility from Banks, Doechii has largely refrained from further engagement, focusing on her music career and artistic endeavors.
