Beyoncé Responds to Backlash For Wearing the Tiffany Diamond

Beyoncé has been receiving backlash for wearing the $30 million dollar “Tiffany Diamond” aka the blood diamond they purchased after it was stolen from South Africa. She was the first black woman to wear the diamond.

Many people on social media have been attacking Beyoncé instead of attacking Tiffany & Co., the company who actually owns the diamond and has the power to return the diamond to South Africa if they wanted to.

After seeing a negative Instagram post about her daughter wearing the diamond. Tina Knowles-Lawson, Beyoncé’s mother even came out to respond about the backlash her daughter was receiving.

“How many of you socially conscious activists own diamonds ? I thought so ! Well guess what did you go to try to check to see where the diamond came from? Probably not,” she said.

She continued: “So when you guys get engaged you won’t have a diamond you gonna put on a sterling silver band And you better check out where it came from and the origin of where came from and why you add it check out the calls for the Leather that you weird because they made it came from another country to to ban and not buy diamonds right because your righteous !!”

Beyoncé recently spoke on the backlash and revealed that she wasn’t aware of the diamond origin. Beyoncé is disappointed and angry that she wasn’t made aware of its history, according to The Sun.

Audrey Hepburn and Lady Gaga previously wore the Tiffany Diamond in a public outing before Beyoncé and received zero backlash. Queen Elizabeth has the “Star of Africa” in her crown and receives absolutely no backlash.

Tiffany & Co. is also pledging $2 million toward scholarship and internship programs for historically Black colleges and universities.
