The Critics Choice Association (CCA) has officially announced that comedian, television host, and best-selling author Chelsea Handler will return to host the 29th annual Critics Choice Awards. The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on Sunday, January 14, 2024, airing live on The CW. This marks Handler’s second consecutive year as the host of the prestigious event.

Expressing her excitement, Chelsea Handler stated, “I am very happy and excited to be hosting the Critics Choice Awards again this year, as last year was one of the most fun nights I’ve had.” She humorously added, “There is no greater reward than making fun of actors and then getting drunk with them afterward. It’s an honor.”

Known for her wit and candid humor, Handler is a comedian, television host, best-selling author, and advocate. She gained prominence as the host of E!’s top-rated “Chelsea Lately” and continued her success with documentary series and talk shows on Netflix. Handler has authored six best-selling books, with several reaching #1 on the New York Times Bestseller list.

In addition to her contributions to entertainment, Handler launched the iHeartRadio advice podcast “Dear Chelsea” in 2021 and embarked on the successful “Vaccinated and Horny Tour” in 2021, winning “The Comedy Act of 2021” at the People’s Choice Awards. Her stand-up specials on HBO Max and Netflix, along with her ongoing stand-up tour, showcase her continued impact on the comedy scene.

CCA CEO Joey Berlin expressed the association’s thrill in having Chelsea Handler return as the host, stating, “After having her as our host last year, we couldn’t wait to have her back up on the stage again.”

The Critics Choice Awards, honoring outstanding achievements in cinematic and television categories, are considered a significant predictor of Academy Award nominations. The 29th annual Critics Choice Awards show will be executive-produced by Bob Bain Productions and Berlin Entertainment. The event will be represented by Dan Black at Greenberg Traurig, LLP. The live broadcast on The CW will take place from 7:00 – 10:00 pm ET (delayed PT, check local listings).

That should be very unfunny. Just stories with no real punchlines.
