Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Returns to Theaters With Groundbreaking 270 Degree SCREENX Experience

Crunchyroll has announced that the record-breaking anime film “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle” will be returning to theaters in the United States and Canada on March 6, 2026. Tickets go on sale February 20.

For the first time ever, the film will be presented in the SCREENX format, which provides a 270-degree field of view. The film was originally released by Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment on September 12.

It will be released again in the original Japanese language with English subtitles and an English dub.

This film is the first of a three-part cinematic trilogy that will tell the final battle of the popular and award-winning anime series. When the film was originally released, it received critical and fan acclaim and was a major box office success around the globe. It was the seventh highest-grossing film of 2025.

After its initial theatrical run, the film has continued to be a major success, becoming the highest-grossing international film of all time to be released in the United States and North America. It has surpassed the film “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” after it held the title for 25 years. It has also become the highest-grossing anime film of all time.

The film has also received numerous accolades. It has received a Golden Globes nomination for Best Animated Feature. It has received a nomination by the Producers Guild of America for Outstanding Producer of Animated Theatrical Motion Pictures. It has also received a nomination by the BAFTA Awards for Best Animated Film.

The story is about Tanjiro Kamado, a young boy who decides to join the Demon Slayer Corps when his sister Nezuko is transformed into a demon.

As Tanjiro becomes more powerful and develops friendships with other demon slayers Zenitsu Agatsuma and Inosuke Hashibira, Tanjiro battles against powerful demons with the help of the Hashira swordsmen.

As the Demon Slayer Corps gets ready for the decisive battle with the help of Hashira training, the demon king Muzan Kibutsuji appears at the Ubuyashiki Mansion, which threatens the Demon Slayer Corps leaders.

Tanjiro and the Hashira are then drawn into the demons’ castle, the Infinity Castle, which leads to the climactic battle between the Demon Slayer Corps and the demons.

“Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” is a popular Japanese manga series created by Koyoharu Gotouge and serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Jump from February 2016 to May 2020.

The 23-volume manga series has sold more than 200 million copies worldwide and has gained a huge following globally due to the dramatic storyline, sword-fighting action, and humor incorporated into the series.

The anime was first released in April 2019 with the Tanjiro Kamado: Unwavering Resolve Arc and the blockbuster film “Mugen Train,” which was released in October 2020 and became a huge success globally.

The anime arcs were released in the form of “Mugen Train,” Entertainment District (2021–2022), Swordsmith Village (2023), Hashira Training (2024), and more. The animation is done by the studio ufotable.

The “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” anime series is currently available to stream on Crunchyroll.
