A Ratings Powerhouse: Dominating Cable and Streaming Platforms Among Key Black Demographics
Beyond its critical acclaim, Diarra from Detroit proved to be a ratings juggernaut. During its linear broadcast on BET earlier this year, the series ranked as the number one new show on cable among Black viewers for the year to date. It topped multiple key demographics, leading among Black adults aged 18 to 49, adults aged 25 to 54, and total Black viewers aged two and up.
Among all scripted cable series, Diarra from Detroit currently ranks second overall with Black audiences in the 18-49 and 25-54 demographics, trailing only BET’s long-standing fan favorite, Tyler Perry’s Sistas. The series’ success on streaming has further solidified its status as one of BET+’s most-watched and most-celebrated original programs.

When her rebound Tinder date mysteriously disappears, Diarra refuses to believe she has been ghosted. Instead, her determined search leads her into a decades-old conspiracy deeply rooted in the city’s criminal underworld.
As the mystery unfolds, Diarra assembles a ragtag team of coworkers, friends, and lovers to help with her investigation. Together, they navigate danger, deception, and unexpected twists, all while exploring the complexities of love, loyalty, and survival in modern-day Detroit.
