A Florida couple has been arrested and charged after a 14-month-old child overdosed. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office revealed that the young child overdosed on cocaine.
Officials in Bonita Springs, Florida, acted quickly in response to a report of an unresponsive child. Diego Tzoy Pu, 33, and Santa Lux Pu De Tzoy, 30, have been charged with child neglect and drug possession.
Authorities claim that the toddler ingested multiple oxycodone pills. The drugs were tested and found to contain cocaine, according to the authorities. The pills, according to the police, were found in Toy Pu’s wallet, which was placed on a table within reach of the child.
According to the sheriff’s office, the toddler was seen crying and screaming while holding a blue pill in her mouth. The child’s condition is now stable after being transported to the hospital.
Sheriff Carmine Marceno emphasized the importance of safeguarding individuals who are unable to defend themselves.
He expressed gratitude that the child’s condition is improving and assured that they will collaborate with DCF to guarantee a drug-free and neglect-free environment for the child’s safety.
