Disney Jr. and Disney+ Announce “Megan and Cupcake Ready for Preschool” This Fall

Disney Jr. announced on Thursday that Megan and Cupcake Ready for Preschool, a new show in production, is coming soon to Disney Jr. and Disney+. It will be available for streaming on Disney+ this fall.

The new show extends Disney Jr.’s successful Ready for Preschool shorts. The show features Megan (Piphus) Baptist, an Emmy Award-winning producer, puppeteer, ventriloquist, and author of children’s books, who has previously worked on Sesame Street. She will be accompanied by her new sidekick – Cupcake. Together, they deliver preschool lessons through fun and brief lessons.

In Megan and Cupcake Ready for Preschool, the action unfolds in the WOW Workshop, which is an invention lab and playhouse. Through various gadgets and gizmos, Megan and Cupcake guide children through activities that make them feel confident, curious, and ready for preschool.

A series of 10 one-minute Megan and Cupcake live-action shorts introducing the WOW Workshop started streaming on Disney Jr.’s YouTube channel on Thursday, before the debut of the series on Disney Jr. and Disney+ this fall. Episodes of Megan and Cupcake Ready for Preschool with longer durations will also debut this fall and focus on specific learning and play concepts. They will include new live-action segments and Ready for Preschool shorts.

Ready for Preschool shorts debuted in 2019 and have been viewed more than 150 million times on Disney Jr.’s YouTube channel. In these shorts, age-appropriate lessons are delivered using music and characters from Disney Jr.

Megan and Cupcake Ready for Preschool joins Disney Jr.’s expanding list of learning-based shows on Disney+ that help develop early childhood skills like Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Gracie’s Corner. Gracie’s Corner, described by Disney as a global phenomenon, debuted earlier this summer on Disney Jr. and Disney+ as part of a worldwide deal for linear and streaming content, with plans for original programming.

The series is produced by Riverstreet Productions with Disney Jr. The series was developed by Jason Hopley and Brian Clark, who are executive producers along with Riverstreet co-founders Michael Blum and Tracy Pion.
