The festive season is about to get a sci-fi twist as Disney+ treated fans to a sneak peek of the highly-anticipated “Doctor Who” Christmas Special, titled “The Church on Ruby Road.” The teaser arrived ahead of the special’s premiere on December 25, accessible at 9:55 a.m. PT / 12:55 p.m. PT.
This Christmas Special introduces Ncuti Gatwa as The Fifteenth Doctor, accompanied by Millie Gibson in the role of his new companion, Ruby Sunday.
The additional cast members include Davina McCall as herself, Michelle Greenidge as Carla Sunday, Angela Wynter as Cherry Sunday, and Anita Dobson as Mrs. Flood. The special weaves a tale from Christmas Eve’s past, involving an abandoned baby in the snow, Ruby Sunday, the Doctor, stolen babies, goblins, and the potential revelation of Ruby’s mysterious birth.
To add to the excitement, Gatwa and Gibson illuminated the London Eye landmark with the colors of the iconic “Doctor Who” Time Vortex earlier today, setting the stage for the upcoming premiere.
Furthermore, a blue carpet world premiere screening of the Christmas Special, accompanied by a Q&A session featuring Gatwa, Gibson, and showrunner Russell T Davies, unfolded at the British Film Institute, Southbank.
“Doctor Who” is a collaborative production between Bad Wolf and BBC Studios, created for BBC and Disney Branded Television. The executive producers include Russell T Davies (writer and showrunner), Jane Tranter, Julie Gardner, Joel Collins, and Phil Collinson.
