The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback died at age 24 this weekend when he was hit by a car, his agent Cedric Saunders told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (via CBSMiami), the accident occurred at 6:37 a.m. when Haskins was walking on a “limited access facility for unknown reasons” and attempted to cross the westbound lanes of Interstate 595 when he was struck by a dump truck.
Haskins was in Florida getting in offseason work with other Steelers quarterbacks, running backs and wide receivers. He played for Ohio State before being drafted by Washington in 2019. He then went on to sign with the Steelers in 2021.
Our condolences goes out to his family.
