Ella French: 29-Year-Old Chicago Police Officer Gunned Down During Traffic Stop After Just Coming Back From Maternity Leave

Rest In Peace to Chicago Police officer, 29-year-old, Ella French, who recently just came back to duty after having a baby.

Last night, Ella was shot and killed while conducting a car stop, leaving behind her 2-month-old infant.

French was with the Chicago Police Department since spring of 2018, according to CPD Superintendent David Brown.

French and two other officers had just stopped a vehicle at 63rd Street and Bell Avenue when one of its three passengers began firing. Officers returned fire, injuring one of the passengers, while the two cops were shot.

The other police officer who was shot during the traffic stop is currently fighting for his life in the hospital.

The three passengers are currently in police custody. One of the three group members who are responsible for killing French committed a robbery back in 2019, according to Brown.

None of the three suspects have been identified as of yet.
