In a moving tribute, Zendaya recalls “all of the boundless light, love, and joy he always managed to give us” about her “Euphoria” co-star Angus Cloud.
The 25-year-old actor Cloud, who played the drug dealer Fezco “Fez” O’Neill in the HBO series, passed away on Monday.
According to his publicist, he passed away at his family’s Oakland, California, home. The cause of death wasn’t revealed.
The family of Cloud said goodbye to “an artist, a friend, a brother, and a son” in a statement released by TMZ on Monday.
“Last week he buried his father and intensely struggled with this loss,” the family said. “The only comfort we have is knowing Angus is now reunited with his dad, who was his best friend. Angus was open about his battle with mental health and we hope that his passing can be a reminder to others that they are not alone and should not fight this on their own in silence.”
“We hope the world remembers him for his humor, laughter and love for everyone,” his family added.
“Words are not enough to describe the infinite beauty that is Angus (Conor),” Zendaya shared in a Instagram post Tuesday. “I’m so grateful I got the chance to know him in this life, to call him a brother, to see his warm kind eyes and bright smile, or hear his infectious cackle of a laugh (I’m smiling now just thinking of it) I know people use this expression often when talking about folks they love…“they could light up any room they entered” but boy let me tell you, he was the best at it.”
“I’d like to remember him that way. For all of the boundless light, love and joy he always managed to give us. I’ll cherish every moment,” Zendaya added.
With the simple eulogy “forever family,” actor and boxer Javon “Wanna” Walton, who played Ashtray, Cloud’s Fezco’s adopted younger brother on the HBO series, posted a picture of the deceased actor to his Instagram Story. With the caption “rest easy brother,” Walton also posted a picture of the two sharing a hug on his Instagram account.
There was “no one quite like Angus,” according to Sam Levinson, the creator of HBO hit series Euphoria. “He was too special, too talented and way too young to leave us so soon,” Levinson added. “He also struggled, like many of us, with addiction and depression. I hope he knew how many hearts he touched. I loved him. I always will. Rest in peace and God bless his family.”
Chloe Cherry added to the tributes by posting an Instagram Story photo of Fez and her character Faye chilling, with the caption “Miss you bro.”
Sydney Sweeney paid tribute to her friend and co-star by posting a number of images and a video of her and Cloud. The actress who plays Cassie Howard penned the following caption for her Instagram post:
“Angus you were an open soul, with the kindest heart, and you filled every room with laughter. This is the hardest thing ive ever had to post, and im struggling to find all the words,” Sweeney said.
Sweeney’s Instagram caption also stated, “You will be missed more than you know, but I’m so blessed to have known you in this lifetime, and I’m sure everyone who has ever met you feels the same. This heartache is real and I wish we could’ve had one more hug and 711 run. All my love is with you.”
The actress who plays Maddy Perez, Alexa Demie, shared a broken heart emoji with a dark background on her Instagram Story.
Barbie Ferreira, who plays Kat Fernandez in the series, posted a portrait of Cloud on Instagram with the caption, “I love you so much. you will be missed tremendously.”
Storm Reid, Zendaya’s character Rue’s sister on “Euphoria,” posted a clip from an episode of the show with the caption, “the tears just won’t stop.”
Nika King, who plays Zendaya and Storm Reid’s mother in Euphoria, also paid tribute to Angus Cloud on Instagram.
“We did our season 1 promo together and got a chance to really chop it up. One of the most genuine, laid back, beautiful spirit in this crazy industry…and that magnetic smile. I’m so thankful to have met you and hear your wild stories about Oakland. The Instagram post continues, “You are loved and missed my friend (@anguscloud).”
Eric Dane, who played Cal Jacobs, the father of Jacob Elordi’s Nate, wrote on his Instagram Story on Monday evening that Cloud “was a one off,” adding, “I’m truly sad.”
Before being cast in “Euphoria,” Cloud hadn’t done any acting. He was observed by casting scout Eléonore Hendricks as she passed him on the street in New York. Cloud initially resisted, thinking it was a con. After a meeting with the casting director Jennifer Venditti, the show’s creator Sam Levinson eventually added him as a co-star for the first two seasons of the show alongside Zendaya. Filming for Euphoria’s third season has not yet started.
