First Look: Siena Agudong, Aliyah’s Interlude And Brec Bassinger Lead Tubi’s “Buzzkill”

Tubi has announced that Buzzkill, the upcoming horror-comedy film featuring Siena Agudong, Brec Bassinger, and Interlude from Aliyah, will air on September 25. First-look images have been revealed.

The film will stream exclusively on Tubi beginning that Friday.

In Buzzkill, a sorority sister becomes a victim of a revenge-seeking murderer. Nora, played by Agudong, realizes that the more she drinks, the more her drunken memories give her clues as to who is murdering her sisters. However, time is not on her side, and drinking her next vodka soda might just be the last thing that she does.

Suzanne Keilly wrote the film, with Jem Garrard directing. Other projects of Keilly include Slumber Party Massacre, while other projects directed by Jem Garrard include R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead.

Jem Garrard described the script as a refreshing take on the slasher genre.

“I loved Suzanne’s script and was excited by her spin on the slasher genre. Nora isn’t your traditional final girl; she screws up constantly and is spectacularly ill-equipped for what’s happening around her, but we never stop rooting for her. Siena has incredible comic instincts and brings so much heart to Nora,” Jem Garrard said.

Garrard spoke about the cast and the movie’s purpose.

“I couldn’t have asked for a better ensemble; everyone brought such a distinct energy to their character, and I’m excited for audiences to meet this lovable, dysfunctional sorority. There’s something liberating about making a movie whose primary goal is to entertain the hell out of an audience. ‘Buzzkill’ is unapologetically fun and ridiculous. Horror comedy is such a great communal genre, and ‘Buzzkill’ really embraces that. It’s a movie to watch with friends, and I hope audiences have as much fun watching the chaos unfold as we had making it,” Garrard said.

Agudong said she began preparing for the role by quickly getting familiar with the genre.

“When I first met with our director, Jem Garrard, to talk about ‘Buzzkill,’ they gave me a watchlist full of horror classics and told me to get familiar with the genre tropes … because we planned to push the limits of each one. So on the day, we were all given so much freedom to play, and that was the most exciting part,” Agudong said. “Every day, it felt like we were coming to set just to make a movie that would make us giggle, and now having the film come out, it feels like we are reliving our inside jokes but with a much larger group of friends.”
