A locksmith in West Miami was shot and killed while making a service call, and the shooter’s dad was captured on camera in tears after the crime, according to authorities and witnesses.

Police say 32-year-old Luis David Lemus is charged with second-degree murder in the shooting death of locksmith Adrian Venereo, who had arrived to make a repair when he was shot in the head.

Police say Lemus and his dad had reportedly locked their keys out and were attempting to swap a lock when they called a locksmith to repair, but instead, Lemus shot Venereo when he arrived to repair.

According to authorities, surveillance cameras captured the crime scene and showed the dad of the shooter in tears, confronting Lemus.

“How could you do that to a man who came to help you?” the dad is heard saying in the surveillance video footage. “I never thought you would do this. Poor guy that has children?”

Investigators have not publicly discussed a possible motive.

Adrian Venereo’s wife, Nicole Galvis, said she became concerned when she stopped hearing from her husband and went to the crime scene, where she saw police cars and crime scene tape. “He was just doing his job.”

Family members said Venereo leaves behind children and other loved ones.

Court records show Lemus is facing a second-degree murder charge, but it was not known yet if he had a lawyer or not.
