Former Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Jacoby Jones passed away at the age of 40, according to a source close to the team who spoke with ESPN reporter Jamison Hensley.

Drafted by the Houston Texans in 2007, Jones played four seasons in Houston before joining the Ravens for a two-year stint from 2012-2014. He earned a Pro Bowl selection in 2012.

Jones’ legacy with the Ravens is cemented with his role in the “Mile-High Miracle.” His game-tying, 70-yard touchdown catch with less than a minute remaining in the AFC Divisional playoff game against the Denver Broncos sent the game into double overtime, where Baltimore ultimately triumphed 38-35.

During Super Bowl XLVII against the San Francisco 49ers, Jones etched his name in Super Bowl history with a record-breaking 108-yard kickoff return, giving the Ravens a commanding 22-point lead.

Following his time with the Ravens, Jones continued his career with the San Diego Chargers and Pittsburgh Steelers before retiring and returning to Baltimore as a Raven in 2017. He transitioned into coaching, serving as tight ends coach at Morgan State University and most recently, wide receivers coach at Alabama State University.

The cause of death has not yet been made public. This story is developing.
