Sarah Elizabeth Ramon, a 28-year-old Joaquin resident, voluntarily surrendered at the Shelby County Jail on Tuesday, December 19. Three felonies were charged against her, casting a shadow over her professional life and the community she served.
Ramon was charged with Indecency with a Child (F-3), Sexual Assault of a Child (F-2), and Improper Relationship Between Educator and Student (F-2). The gravity of these allegations prompted a total bond of $275,000, which was further subdivided into $75,000 for Indecency with a Child (F-3), $100,000 for Sexual Assault of a Child (F-2), and $100,000 for Improper Relationship Between Educator and Student (F-2).
According to KSLA News 12, Shelby County Justice of the Peace, Pct. 1, Donna Hughes, presided over Ramon’s arraignment, which marked a watershed moment in this legal saga.
In a statement issued on December 19th, Joaquin Superintendent Ryan Fuller addressed the situation, revealing that Ramon, the employee named in the charges, had resigned. Fuller stressed, “The Joaquin Independent School District received a report on December 5th regarding an allegation of an inappropriate relationship between an educator and a student. The district initiated an immediate investigation.”
The Joaquin School Board moved quickly, accepting Ramon’s resignation on December 18th. Fuller stated, “Law Enforcement and Child Protective Services were notified promptly. A report has been made to the State Board for Education Certification in Austin.”
