At the young age of 18 years, Dai Time has achieved what others only hope to achieve in a lifetime. A full-time college sophomore, celebrated talk show host, celebrity correspondent, and CEO of DT Entertainment, she pulls off her many hats with elegance and poise. Hailed as the “Voice of Gen Z,” Dai is a light to her generation; she cleverly marries her poignant cultural observations with a relentless passion for mental health, social media advocacy, and telling the genuine story.
As the creator, executive producer, and host of the hit Snapchat series It’s Dai Time, Dai has cultivated a platform that resonates deeply with her peers. The series, now entering its sixth season, was developed through Snapchat’s 523 Accelerator Program, which aims to amplify diverse voices. “I can’t express enough how much I enjoy talking about my show—it truly feels like a dream come true,” Dai shared. “Partnering with Snapchat to bring it to life was an incredible opportunity, and I’m beyond grateful for the experience. This partnership was also an amazing chance for me to really bring light to my generation, as I was the youngest member of the 523 Accelerator Program.
“It’s Dai Time was an idea I came up with as a way to tap into the pulse of what’s trending among Gen Z, covering everything from the hottest fashion trends to the most current and relevant news. But beyond just staying on top of pop culture, I also wanted the show to serve as a platform for diving into more important and impactful topics. It was really important to me to touch on issues that matter, like cyberbullying and body shaming, while still keeping things fun and engaging. The goal was to create a space where viewers could not only stay informed about what’s happening in the world but also feel seen and heard when it comes to challenges they might face in their own lives.”
The Makings of a Media Mogul
Dai’s journey to stardom began in her childhood. At just six years old, she went viral with her song My TuTu, which opened the door for her to publish a best-selling children’s book and launch a nationwide literary tour encouraging thousands of kids to read. By 12, she was running Dai Time Magazine, a quarterly publication dedicated to uplifting young voices. Today, with over 1.5 million followers across platforms, she continues to innovate and inspire.
However, Dai’s relationship with social media hasn’t always been easy. “After facing my own challenges with social media and the false narratives they can create, I took it upon myself to use my platform as an outlet to connect with my fellow Gen Z’ers,” she revealed. “Using my content to share common experiences and troubles we all share, and to let my peers know that they are not alone. With that being said, my secret to staying connected with my audience is our shared experiences. Because I’m just a girl, AND a Gen Z’er, I experience everything my supporters experience as well, so I am able to target specific topics that apply only to us and our generation.”
Balancing College and Stardom
Dai’s life is a balancing act between her thriving career and college commitments. She credits her love for her work with helping her manage it all. “Honestly, it is a lot to manage the demands of being a full-time college sophomore while engaging in my career as a talk show host, producer, and CEO too, but I am so grateful to have so much love for what I do that it often does not feel like work,” she explained.
“A typical day for me begins with my daily dose of schoolwork, whether that’s being on campus for a few hours or knocking out assignments online. My days usually end with career-related work, like going to events, hosting on carpets, or creating content.” Recently, her career highlights include hosting Ebony Magazine’s HBCU Yard Fest, covering the red carpet for the NAACP Image Awards, and attending Disney’s Inside Out 2 World Premiere. She was even personally invited by President Joe Biden to attend the Black Excellence Brunch at the White House.
Advocating for Mental Health
For Dai, mental health is a priority, and she uses her platform to encourage others to prioritize their well-being. “I’m all about those moments of personal rejuvenation,” she said. “I love treating myself to a relaxing facial, getting a good workout in with hot yoga, or unwinding by playing my all-time favorite game, The Sims 4.
“However, I’ll admit, it can be challenging to step away from social media and take time for myself, especially with everything constantly demanding my attention. But whenever I do make the effort to disconnect and focus on my well-being—both mentally and physically—I always feel like the best version of myself. Taking that time to recharge is so essential for maintaining a balanced and healthy life.
“I believe that my generation faces a unique challenge when it comes to asking for help, often due to the fear of being perceived as weak, which I don’t agree with at all. I’m a strong advocate for mental health, and I encourage my followers to understand that it’s completely okay to seek help and take the time you need to focus on your own well-being. Taking care of your mental health is essential, especially in today’s world where social media can create so much pressure. I always recommend making self-care a priority because when you do, you’re able to show up as the best version of yourself.”
What’s Next for It’s Dai Time
As It’s Dai Time gears up for its sixth season, fans can expect more of what has made the show such a hit. “Ahhhh!! My show on Snapchat has been such an amazing endeavor and truly one of my favorites, so I am SUPER excited about entering season 6,” Dai shared. “As always, you can expect to find some piping hot Gen Z tea, intriguing trending topics, and also some insight on important messages dedicated to Gen Z and our many experiences.
“As of now, I’m not doing any guest stars, but eventually, I’d love to film a few episodes with a guest instrumental to Gen Z, like my hometown twin Latto, or even creative Monet McMichael.”
At just 18 years old, Dai Time is already a trailblazer, seamlessly weaving her passions for storytelling, advocacy, and entertainment. With her ever-growing platform, she’s proving that the future of media is in good hands—and it’s Dai Time.
