Gabrielle Union will serve as producer for one of NBC’s newest comedies, “Black Girl Magic.” The show, which will be a 30-minute sitcom, will tell the story of three sisters who are estranged but come back together after discovering a secret about their family history. The series is slated to take place in New Orleans, La.

She’s joining Chandra Russell, who writes and stars in Comedy Central’s “South Side.” Notable Hollywood creators Robia Rashid, Embeit Beyene, and Crystal Boyd will also be heading the series.

Union is no stranger to NBC as she currently serves as a judge for the network’s America’s Got Talent.

She was also an executive producer and lead actress in BET’s “Being Mary Jane,” Spectrum’s new series “L.A.’s Finest” and was a producer on the film Breaking In.
