Guy Ritchie’s latest film, “THE MINISTRY OF UNGENTLEMANLY WARFARE,” is a cinematic adventure fueled by historical intrigue and daring exploits. The action-comedy, based on declassified British War Department files and inspired by true events, promises to be a gripping story about the first special forces organization formed during World War II.
The film, set against the backdrop of Winston Churchill’s bold vision, depicts a top-secret combat unit formed by a small group of military officials, including renowned author Ian Fleming. This motley crew of rogues and mavericks embarks on a daring mission against the Nazis, employing unconventional and completely “ungentlemanly” fighting techniques that will change the course of the war.
Guy Ritchie, known for his directorial prowess in films such as “Sherlock Holmes” and “The Gentlemen,” is directing the project, which is produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, a blockbuster filmmaking maestro. The stellar cast is led by Henry Cavill, known for his roles in “Man of Steel” and “Mission: Impossible – Fallout,” and includes Eiza González, Alan Ritchson, Alex Pettyfer, Hero Fiennes Tiffin, Babs Olusamokun, Henrique Zaga, Til Schweiger, Henry Golding, and Cary Elwes.
The film promises thrilling action sequences while also delving into the historical significance of the British SAS and modern Black Ops warfare, revealing the audacious approach that changed the course of history.
The screenplay by Paul Tamasy, Eric Johnson, Arash Amel, and Guy Ritchie weaves together a narrative that pays homage to the unsung heroes of World War II, based on Damien Lewis’ book “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare: How Churchill’s Secret Warriors Set Europe Ablaze and Gave Birth to Modern Black Ops.”
