Hannah Einbinder told Variety that she felt “absolute pride” when Javier Bardem yelled “Free Palestine” at the Oscars, and she was not surprised that no one else in the room spoke up.
In an interview with Variety, Einbinder expressed her appreciation for Bardem’s decision to speak out at the Oscars and for his history of making political statements.
“It was absolute pride and gratitude,” Einbinder told Variety. “Obviously, he is so outspoken and always has been. And I really appreciate his voice in a room like that where literally no one else said anything.”
When asked if she was surprised that no one else in the room mentioned it during the ceremony, Einbinder said that she was not.
“No,” she said.
