A police officer from Hopkinsville, Kentucky, is currently facing criticism after recording a TikTok video in which he lip syncs to the popular song “Try That In A Small Town” by Jason Aldean. The officer’s actions have sparked controversy and negative reactions from the public.
When “Try That In a Small Town” was released as a single in May 2023, it didn’t garner much attention, but that changed when the video for the song was released on July 14, causing attention to fall on the track as well as Jason Aldean.
The courthouse in Columbia, Tennessee, where 18-year-old Black man Henry Choate was lynched in 1927, is shown in the video as it is being projected with images of protests and robberies.
The song’s lyrical content caused controversy, and CMT pulled the video from its rotation.
Absolutely brilliant discretion and take down of #JasonAldean and his racist cowardice video. His supporters & fans won’t care though because they aren’t inclined to aspire beyond their elementary school mentality. 👇🏾 #TryThatInASmallTown pic.twitter.com/XFPfI8lXyc

Ready for this?
Jason Aldean posted a TikTok of the "small town" he's getting heat for. In the background is newspaper clippings. Well this guy found the newspaper 🗞️ it's from- Mississippi 1956.
Jason Aldean is a racist douchebag. pic.twitter.com/ybUrzn6xXa
Jason Aldean tweeted that his video featured clips of American protests. Turns out, much of the footage was filmed in Europe – and not actually of protests. And now, after insisting his video wasn’t racist, he’s edited out Black Lives Matter footage: https://t.co/xgiiR9rwU6 https://t.co/6siOWPcqSe

I called his captain and he didn’t care in the slightest. I even brought up that Jeremy is doing this with tax payer funds on tax payer time. Another Sargent I spoke to who is not in control of Jeremy said they don’t let their officers on Social media in uniform or on duty.
I think he looks like a coward. He should be working not doing pretend sing a longs. This baby faced b**** should be court marshaled for wasting tax payer money. It’s sad, I wouldn’t hire this tool to pick up dog shit
He has to be like 5’6 😂😂
Wow look it’s another racist cop. I be trying to tell y’all that these cops are just KKK with a badge.
