A video shows Hannah McNair performing a hip-hop dance routine known as Southside, associated with Houston hip-hop culture.
Hannah McNair is married to Cal McNair, owner of the Houston Texans, and she works there as Chief Community Officer.
In the public event video, she executes the dance steps by shaking to the beat, bending her knees deeply, and making circular hand movements that internet users called gold.
The Southside Dance originated from Lil’ Keke’s 1997 song and has been popular for nearly three decades as part of Houston culture. People perform it at block parties, weddings, high school gymnasiums, and sports events in Houston. Performing the steps is considered part of Houston’s identity.
Online reactions focused more on the surprise factor than on the dance steps.
