Geoffrey Owens has landed his next screen role after being job shamed for being a cashier at Trader Joe’s. Owens played Elvin Tibideaux, the husband of the eldest daughter of Bill Cosby’s character on the TV series in the 1980s and 1990s. The recent photos showed him at a cashier register scanning items. He had to quit his job because of the attention it got all over social media. The former Cosby Show star got immediate support from fans and celebrities.

Producer and filmmaker, Tyler Perry offered him a job on one of his shows. According to TMZ, Geoffrey Owens has accepted the job. TMZ reported that Geoffrey Owens was casted in ten episode role on Tyler Perry hit show on OWN, The Haves and the Have Nots. The show, is in it’s sixth season, it’s currently being shot at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta.

Owens has also received support from the Queen of Rap, Nicki Minaj announced on her Beats 1 “Queen Radio” show that she will be donating $25,000 to Owens.
