Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota has won the primary challenge from a well-funded Democratic opponent who made an issue of her national celebrity. The win means Omar is nearly certain to win a second term in November in her solidly liberal district.

Omar will try to go for a second term in November, after beating Antone Melton-Meaux, an attorney and mediator who raised millions in anti-Omar money.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Rashida Tlaib were in a similar situation with Ilhan Omar. They all won their primary election despite horrible attacks and tremendous amounts of money spent to defeat them.

In 2018, Minnesota state Rep. Ilhan Omar has became one of the first Muslim women elected to Congress.
