India Love appears to be trying to put one of this year’s Streamer Awards most public moments behind her. She had posted a very personal apology for getting a lot of heat for her acceptance speech.
She livestreamed her response about why she had disrupted this ceremony and explained that RaKai and DDG should have received this prize for Breakout Streamer of the Year instead of FaZe Adapt. Netizens blamed her for this action of stealing someone else’s moment to attain this prestigious prize.
She assumed her responsibilities.
‘I Had No Business Being on That Stage’
While apologizing for her actions, India Love emphasized that she didn’t mean to justify her actions.
“This is a true apology, meaning no excuses or explanations for my behavior,” she said, establishing a clear tone for a very truthful assessment of herself.
She has confessed that her actions did not represent who she was, her staff, her fans, and those who look up to her when she called this incident ‘completely unnecessary and distasteful’. She has also said that this incident occurred while she was under influence.
‘Right is right and wrong is wrong,’ she said. ‘And I was completely wrong.’
Direct Apologies to FaZe Adapt, FaZe Clan, and QT Cinderella
Apologies were made in particular to FaZe Adapt, who had won before being disrupted by India Love.
‘There was no reason or excuse to diminish your light in your moment,’ she said. ‘What I did was selfish and inconsiderate.’
She paid homage to FaZe Clan as a team as well and gave a thumbs up to their achievements as Twitch visionaries. “I’m still learning and growing,” she added.
India Love also apologized to QT Cinderella, who hosted the Streamer Awards.
“I appreciate you inviting me. There is no excuse for my behavior,” she said. “It was distasteful and unnecessary. I had no business being on that stage.”
She hoped one day QT would forgive her.
Accountability, Not Deflection
India Love emphasized accountability over saving face throughout her message. She acknowledged that her actions were impulsive and that she didn’t think about others’ feelings when she took someone else’s moment.
“If the shoe was on the other foot and someone did that to me, I would feel absolutely terrible,” she added. “So I can only imagine how I made everybody feel in that building.”
She discussed her current struggles, pointing out a cycle of learning mistakes and acknowledging the need for overdue change.
“I’m too grown to be doing what I did,” she confessed.
“A Coffin or a Classroom”
One of the most remembered aspects of this apology was a quote that resonated with her.
“Your mistakes can either be a coffin or a classroom,” she said. “They can teach you, or they can be the thing that takes you under.”
She sees this viral punishment as a hard but much-needed mirror for her personal growth. She recognizes that she may be far from perfect, but does not want this incident to shape her future.
“I have to stop disappointing myself by repeating mistakes,” she said.
A Step Back Before Moving Forward
India Love chose to end her update by committing to pulling back and thinking before making a return. Again, repeating her assertion that she had no intention of affecting anyone negatively, but understood this didn’t affect how her actions were perceived.
“There’s nothing I can say other than let my actions speak,” she said. “I need to be better to myself and to my community.”
Whether this apology repairs the damage remains to be seen, but one thing is for sure: India Love no longer stands up for this scene. She stands in full ownership of this scene.
