Headed to Hempstead County, Arkansas, where authorities say they’ve found the remains of a child in a trash bag. They believe it could be that of four-year-old Maleah Davis who went missing from Houston May 4 while she was staying with her mother’s ex-fiance.
Derion Vence initially told authorities he had been knocked unconscious by three men and awoke to find Maleah missing. Today, he allegedly told a Houston activist that her death was an accident and he had dumped the body in Arkansas.

The Hempstead County Sheriff’s Office said the trash bag was initially spotted last week by a work crew, but that they assumed it was filled with trash because of the smell and left it alone. Another crew ran over the bag with Bush Hog today and now bits of the bags and its contents are scattered everywhere, I’m told.
