Jared Leto Talks ‘Morbius,’ Potential Spider-Man Clash, Smartest MCU Character and Anne Hathaway

Jared Leto’s ‘Morbius’ is finally coming to a theater near you after all the delays due to the pandemic. He isn’t new to the blockbuster comic book films at all. In 2016, Leto portrayed the Joker in the “Suicide Squad” and again in Zack Snyder’s “Justice League” that was released last year on HBO Max.

From Joker and Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) to Dr. Michael Morbius and Martine (Adria Arjona). Leto’s characters have a ride or die in both of these films. Since he’s been a part of two comic book couples I had to find out who his favorite comic book couple of all time. He didn’t reveal an answer but he did admit that he was “excited” to see Robert Pattinson and Zoe Kravitz in Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman’. Leto revealed he hasn’t had time to watch the film yet. Which makes sense due to all the promo runs for ‘Morbius’ and ‘WeCrashed’.

Morbius is a character that fits in upcoming Marvel/Sony projects such as ‘Blade,’ ‘Spider-Man,’ and ‘Venom’. Leto revealed what he would like to see next from Morbius after this film releases in theaters. “I think Morbius and Spider-Man would be pretty interesting,” he says.

The MCU is full of geniuses. The universe has Shuri, Dr. Strange, Hope, Bruce Banner, Jane Foster, Rocket Raccoon, and many more but with Tony Stark gone there is an interesting debate about who’s currently the smartest character in the universe. Dr. Michael Morbius officially joins the MCU and he’s no slouch when it comes to the intelligence department. Jared spoke on who he thinks the smartest character in the MCU is right now and let’s just say Dr. Morbius is at the top of his list.

Lastly, Anne Hathaway recently revealed to Extra TV that she wants to be in ‘Morbius 2’ if they move forward with a sequel. Leto seemed very interested in having Anne Hathaway come aboard for a sequel. The two currently star in Apple TV’s ‘WeCrashed’ which follows the greed-filled rise and inevitable fall of Adam Neumann’s WeWork, one of the world’s most valuable startups, and the narcissists whose chaotic love made it all possible.

‘Morbius’ will hit theaters exclusively on April 1st. Matt Smith, Adria Arjona, Jared Harris, Al Madrigal and Tyrese Gibson will star alongside Jared Leto. The film was penned by Matt Sazama & Burk Sharpless and directed by Daniel Espinosa. ‘Morbius’ was produced by Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, and Lucas Foster. Louise Rosner and Emma Ludbrook serve as executive producers.
