Jean Grey is now Phoenix! Her solo adventures as a cosmic superhero begin this week in Phoenix #1. The comic is part of the X-Men’s new From the Ashes era. Writer Stephanie Phillips and artist Alessandro Miracolo’s Phoenix is one of the most anticipated comic book launches of the summer.

To hold fans over, Marvel has released a fiery variant cover for issue #2 by artist Derrick Chew.

The cover features Jean Grey alone in deep space. She must not only do what no one else can, but she also yearns to. Her new tasks include reigniting suns, suppressing black holes, taking on villains like Gorr the God Butcher and Thanos’ Black Order, and teaming up with fellow cosmic heroes like Nova, Corsair, and Captain Marvel.

Jean is no longer the Earth-bound X-Man fans knew. Glorious adventures await, but while the galaxies beckon Jean for salvation, will they also be reminded of her appetite for destruction?

Preorder Derrick Chew’s cover at your local comic shop today and pick up Phoenix #1 this Wednesday! For more information, visit Marvel.com.
