Apple TV+ is going to blow up your fall watch calendar, and if you were already booked and busy well into the season, reconsider. The streamer released the trailer and key art for The Savant, an eight-episode miniseries starring no less than Jessica Chastain, yes, Oscar, SAG, Golden Globe, and Critics Choice Award-winning Jessica Chastain, and it appears to be prestige TV meets paranoia-fueled nerve-shredding at its finest.

The Story That Will Grab You Instantly

The Savant Poster

The Savant is a show that follows an undercover agent (Chastain) into internet hate groups to attempt to prevent domestic extremists from doing harm. It’s Homeland territory meets The Americans with a dash of 2025 style: the battlefield is not a exotic and foreign locale, but the internet wasteland of extremist internet subcultures. It’s creepy, it’s current, and it’s so “I must watch this right now.”

The first two episodes will roll out worldwide on Friday, September 26, 2025, with each subsequent Friday continuing up to and including November 7. That’s a keen seven Fridays of Friday night-of-the-week-at-the-edge-of-your-seat TV viewing, a bold attempt to seize the fall crown of the stream.

Jessica Chastain, Powerhouse and Puppetmaster

She’s not only starring in this but executive producing as well, this time for her Freckle Films imprint. If you’ve ever witnessed her get completely lost in a performance like The Eyes of Tammy Faye or George & Tammy, then you will witness her give a tour-de-force performance but this time, she’s calling the shots, both in and behind the camera.

She is well-assisted by an incredible supporting cast with the likes of Nnamdi Asomugha, Cole Doman, Jordana Spiro, Trinity Lee Shirley, Toussaint Francois Battiste, and guest star Pablo Schreiber (better known as Pornstache from Orange Is the New Black). Yaddayaddayadda: the cast is chock

The Power Players Behind the Scenes Apple did not blanket this series with money; Apple put together a TV A-list crew. It is executive produced by Emmy-winning Six Feet Under and Tokyo Vice’s Alan Poul, House of Cards and Anatomy of a Scandal’s Melissa James Gibson, and six-time Emmy-winning director Matthew Heineman (Cartel Land, A Private War). Andrea Stanley, the original creator who wrote the Cosmopolitan article that got the show the greenlight, is a consultant to ensure the show remains realistic.

Why TV Fans Should Already Be Screaming

Apple TV+ has been boasting of late (Slow Horses, Severance, Lessons in Chemistry), but Savant seems determined to establish a period. It’s taken straight from the neuroses of the modern day, the writing team is resistant to bullets, and undercover thriller action from the likes of Jessica Chastain? That’s appointment television.

Make a date, stock up the snack drawer, and pop your popcorn, because when The Savant debuts on the television airwaves starting September 26, all group chats are gonna spill out.
